World Heart Day : Prevent heart disease


In Indonesia, the death rate from heart disease and increased blood vessel with an increasingly younger age of patients because of low public awareness and knowledge about this disease.

In order to commemorate World Heart Day, Heart Foundation Indonesia (YJI) invites the public to raise awareness of the importance of heart health and run a healthy lifestyle that starts from the smallest scope that is family. This goal is in accordance with the global theme of One World, One Home, One Heart (one of the world, one family, a healthy heart) that was carried around the world.
It was delivered by dr. Goddess Andang Joesoef, Chairman of Indonesian Heart Foundation (YJI), in a gathering of journalists ahead of world heart day which falls annually on 29 September, Thursday (15/09/2011).

"Indeed many ways suppress the emergence of cardiovascular disease risk factors, so we asked the public to start a healthy lifestyle habits of the smallest sphere, which is home to ensure a healthy intake of food for themselves and families," he said.

According to the Goddess, Non-Communicable Diseases (PTM) is a major concern because it is known to give a negative impact on the social aspects of the macro economy since the age of sufferers are getting younger.

"By starting healthy habits at home, it is hoped this can be transmitted to the relatives and friends who in turn can suppress the number of people with heart disease at any age," he added.

To facilitate the public to start the habit of "Be Healthy Lifestyles", Heart Foundation Indonesia has the acronym HEALTHY through phases of activity covered by the Healthy Heart Enterprises Panca, namely: Balanced nutrition, Get rid of cigarettes, to face and overcome stress, Monitor blood pressure, exercising regularly.

As is known, the heart and blood vessel disease is responsible for 17.1 million deaths or 29 percent of the total number of deaths each year, based on data from the World Heart Federation (WHF). It makes the heart and blood vessel disease is the leading cause of death are most common.

Prof Dr. Budi Setyanto Sp.JP of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia said that, as in other countries, people with ill hantung and blood vessels in the country continued to increase to 26.8 percent and getting closer to the disease cause of death. He argues that high death rates from heart disease and blood vessels are more motivated due to low awareness and knowledge society.

"This disease can be prevented by pressing the risk factor is tobacco consumption, unhealthy diet, too much intake of fat, eat less vegetables and fruits, and low physical activity," he said.
